This event will be held at Jack Rabbit National Forest Camp Grounds located 4.5 miles from Hiawassee Ga. on Hwy75. Go to main light in Hiawassee Ga, turn toward NC on Hwy 75, go about 4.5 miles to campgrounds on left. Go to end of road by the boat launch. |

This past Saturday marked the start of a sporting tradition at the Jack Rabbit
Campgrounds. Some of the best racers in the south showed up to brake in the new trails at this National Forest
Park. The 4 mile run kicked off the event, and with Bert Hull doing the first lap on the mountain trails in just
over 13 minutes. That should be a course record that will stand for a while. Mark Olson took a second overall in
the race and showed that he was going to be a strong contender in years to come. Debbie Montgomery took 1st place in our womens race. She took on the course
like she trained for it all her life. This was our first attempt at putting on a Duathlon event in this area, and
I want to thank all the people that came out for it. I especially want to thank my main sponsors for backing us
on this first race. It's not always the biggest race to put their money into, but every race has to have a first
time. Our thanks go out to Dannon Co., Jacky Jones Auto Dealerships, & Hardees for all their effort and support.
We look forward to their continued support throughout this race season.
